Cookie Notice
This notice explains how SchoolPlaces.ie uses cookies and similar technologies.
1. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small pieces of information stored in your browser. Websites may also use local storage, session storage, pixels, identifiers and server-side event logs to remember settings, deliver features or measure usage. Not all analytics involve placing cookies on your device.
2. Technologies used by SchoolPlaces
Commercial and partnership interactions: where implemented, SchoolPlaces may count interactions with featured provider cards, business partner logos and outbound links to understand performance. Server-side aggregate counts are different from storing or reading non-essential identifiers on a visitor's device. Any consent-required advertising, analytics or cross-site tracking must be blocked until valid consent is obtained.
- Essential site storage: used where required for site operation, security, sessions or remembering an explicit cookie choice.
- Cookie preference storage: the site uses browser local storage under the key
schoolplaces_cookie_consentto remember whether the visitor selected Accept or Decline. - Service analytics and diagnostic events: may record page visits, search actions, zero-match outcomes, alert CTA interactions, session identifiers and technical errors to measure performance and improve SchoolPlaces.
- Advertising attribution: traffic sources and campaign parameters may be measured to assess campaigns, including traffic originating from search and social advertising.
3. Consent and an important implementation note
The current cookie banner provides Accept and Decline choices and remembers the selected preference. This preference storage by itself does not establish that every non-essential third-party tracker is technically prevented from loading before consent or after Decline. Non-essential cookies and similar tracking that legally require consent must not be activated unless the appropriate consent has been obtained. SchoolPlaces must verify and configure that behaviour for each active technology; this notice does not claim that such an audit has already been completed.
4. Managing your preferences
Under Irish guidance, consent for non-essential tracking must be freely given, specific and withdrawable as easily as it was given. A visible, usable way to revisit consent choices and an accurate inventory of any active consent-requiring cookies (including providers, purposes and lifetimes) must be verified in the live implementation. The existence of an Accept/Decline banner alone does not establish technical compliance.
You can use the site's banner when first presented and manage or clear cookies and site storage in your browser settings. Clearing the SchoolPlaces site storage may allow the banner to appear again. A persistent preference-management control and a current inventory of individual non-essential cookies, vendors, purposes and lifetimes should be added if the site deploys technologies that require such controls and disclosures.
5. External services
Links to Business Partners, including Dada Kids Store, lead to independent sites with their own cookie and privacy practices. Clicking an external link may transmit ordinary technical request information to the destination; SchoolPlaces does not control tracking carried out after you leave our website.
Third-party payment checkouts, WhatsApp, external provider websites and other linked services may use their own technologies subject to their own notices. The exact cookies set by these services when you visit their pages are not controlled by this notice.
6. Contact and updates
